Header: (Audubon, J. J.) Boone, Daniel
Description: Autograph letter from Daniel Boone signed to J. J. Audubon, St. Charles 11 July, 1813. Seven lines. Tipped into a morocco folder with 5 ribs on spine, gilt all around, silk endpapers. On the back of the letter is a a note explaining that the letter is to be handed to Audubon by "Captain Johnson of the steam boat "Swallow".
Also laid in is one typed letter dated March 6, 1923 to "Mr. Walters" signed "Harry Harris (?)" confirming receipt of the "Boone letter".
Also laid in is one handwritten letter signed "Harry Harris" to "Mr. Walters" with history of the steam boat
Swallow.

From the world class library of the Craige family of Keswick and Farmington Virginia, come this amazing selection of 17th to 19th Century leather book, some with maps and 20th Century collectors books. Burton Craige, Archibald Craige and David Craige amassed one of the most impressive rare book collection known. Now that David and his wife Donna have downsized, they are letting some of their rarest books be sold at auction with no reserve.
Also included is one of the best Daniel Boone letters known to exist! Written to his dear friend James Audubon of which we also have a letter from him.
The top 40 books will be professionally cataloged and we will make a simple list on all of the others and many will be sold in large boxed lots. Preview and attendance is a must!!
***JUST ADDED*** We have what we and other experts believe to be Thomas Jefferson's desk from the Rotunda at University of Virginia. The desk was purchased from UVA during one of their deaccession auctions in the 1950"s and was sold as Thomas Jefferson's which does have Monticello Joinery construction charateristics and is of the age and time period.
